OttoFest 2024

Otto-quette

In order to keep OttoFest rockin' and rollin' for many more years, please be cool
and follow these simple courtesies to ensure that we all have a groovy time.

  1. The land for OttoFest is kindly donated by the Johnson family, so let's all treat it like the gift that it is. This is a not-for-profit party, and all monies are used to cover out-of-pocket expenses, maintain the buildings, and buy necessities for the party. All committee members or hosts are volunteers who also pay full price for their admission to OttoFest.
  2. All of the sheds, outbuildings, and trailers are for the private use of the Johnson family and the OttoFest hosts. Please do not help yourself to supplies or tools. The food that we have stored is for Saturday night--the official party--so please do not help yourself on Friday to Saturday's food. Although we encourage the sense of community at OttoFest, the supplies, tools, and equipment are not intended for public use. If you need assistance, please ask a party host.
  3. Please bring a dish to pass. OttoFest provides a lot of food, but we still need extra dishes. Plus, we all benefit from diverse dishes brought by guests. You can give your dish to Jeannie ON SATURDAY, at the food table, or to any other host. Be sure to mark any container you'd like to keep so you can collect it Sunday morning, but consider bringing foods to share in some large Ziplock® baggies instead of serving dishes.
  4. Check-in is at 3:00 p.m. on Friday or 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, and check-out is at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.
  5. Upon check-out, please take everything you brought in. Any tents and/or camping supplies left on the property after check-out will become the property of OttoFest. Remember, take nothing but photos and memories, and leave nothing but footprints. It will be particularly helpful, though, if you also take your garbage with you when you leave the property on Sunday, and pick up your cigarette butts and put them in the butt can(s) at the stage area. We don't have garbage collection at the OttoFest property, so volunteers are required to take all the garbage back to Buffalo for disposal.
  6. Trails are clearly marked, so please avoid setting up tents on trails. When in doubt, ask a host.
  7. There are numerous fire pits throughout the property. Please do not make fires outside of these pits. If your site does not have a pit, please share your neighbor's.
  8. The woodpile near the bon-fire area is for the bon-fire, so please do not take that wood for your own use. Certainly don't take firewood from another person's site (this does happen)! You are free to bring your own wood or scavenge dead wood, but please do not cut down any trees. You may be able to buy some firewood from roadside stands as you drive toward OttoFest. Also, please do not burn plastic or other potentially toxic waste in your fires.
  9. Please do not move, remove, or light any tiki torches--we have a crew for that. The torches are strategically placed to keep paths lighted at night. You are free to bring your own torches for your own campsite, but you'll need to bring your own oil.
  10. Quiet time is observed from 4:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. Many campers may be almost "past their physical prime" and/or have to go to work on Monday (or they started partying at 6:00 a.m.), so please respect other campers and keep the noise and music low during these few hours.
  11. Finally, be sure to watch for deer as you arrive to (and leave) the party. They are typically crepuscular (dawn and dusk) and typically travel in small groups.
  12. Most of all, HAVE FUN! Respect the other campers and the OttoFest hosts, and we'll all have a GREAT time!
